The port of Puerto Plata is the main commercial port on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic, and is the only one in this area receiving both general and bulk cargoes, and also exporting tobacco, agricultural commodities, etc.
Deep water anchorage available outside the port. In rough weather this anchorage is frequently dangerous.
