As a core value of our corporate policy, Maritima Dominicana is firmly commited to working closely with our staff to improve our community and contribute to the balanced social development of our society. The establishment of our integrated systems of Quality Management, Safety, Health and Environment under the norms of ISO 9001:2000, OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004 permit us to apply the highest standard of excellence in our services , a high level of safety and security in our workplace and surrounding areas, and the protection of the environment and conservation of natural resources in our community.

We endeavor to uphold all laws and regulations relating to international transportation and  cargo handling, including  the international norms we have adopted internally in our organization.

We promote quality of employment through the creation of sustainable jobs that make possible the continued personal and professional development of our staff throughout their career with the company.

As part of our commitment to be socially responsible, we endorse the development of a culture of sustainable conservation of our natural resources. Thanks to our environmental management plan we identify environmental impact and risks in our operations and exert appropriate controls for the prevention of all types of accidents and pollution, promoting the conservation of natural resources in all our activities, and continuously strive to improve our environmental and occupational health and safety performance.

In our efforts to improve and to look for solutions to the problems that our society is facing, MarĂ­tima Dominicana, S.A. collaborates with a number of local and national institutions working for the benefit of the community in the fields of health, education, sports, culture and the environment. MarĂ­tima Dominicana, S.A. also supports members of the staff who participate as volunteers, dedicating their time, knowledge and experience for the benefit of others.

We assume this commitment and demonstrate it through participation in the activities that are part of our management and development of projects that are designated for the benefit of the community. Our Community Assistance Committee organizes and coordinates the participation of volunteers in the following activities: Mentoring, reforestation, cleaning of beaches, visits to the neighboring orphanage and nursing home, writing workshops for  public school students, gifts of toys and school supplies to poor school children, among others periodic activities.
