Barahona Port
Barahona Port is primarily used as a bulk cargo port. Exports consist of bulk sugar, which is loaded onto ships by emptying large bags into the holds at a rate of 1500 TM per 24-hour period. The port has four berths, with only the sugar and gypsum facilities regularly used for handling cargo; the other two berths are mainly used as walkways for vessels undergoing repairs or for fishing vessels awaiting orders. There are also some small tanker trucks unloading diesel fuel into the sugar storage depot. For detailed information, please download the Port Handbook.
