Manzanillo Port located in the Northwest Zone, Montecristi Province, close to the main plantain (banana) farms and near the Haitian frontier. The port of Manzanillo was built by Granada S.A. – an American exporting company of bananas in the 1950s. Still primarily used for the export of refrigerated banana and other fruits, it is also used to import general and break bulk cargo (clinker and mineral charcoal).
