The port of La Romana is located at the mouth of the Romana River There is a center canal nd two docks. The entrance to the canal is 110 meters (361 ft) wide. The dock to the west is mainly for sugar and molasses in bulk of the Central Romana Corporation. It is also used for the handling of diverse import cargo (fuel, wood, steel and general cargo) for the maintenance of the Central facilities. More recently some containers are handled inside and outside the facilities of the free zones established in La Romana. The East Pie is exclusively for cruise operations.
