The port of La Romana is located at the mouth of La Romana River equipted with a center canal and two docks. The entrance to the canal is 110 meters (361 ft) wide. The dock to the west is mainly for sugar and molasses in bulk for the Central Romana Corporation. It is also used for the handling of diverse import cargo (fuel, wood, steel and general cargo) fot the nearby sugar mill and most recently various containers are handled inside and outside the industrial free zone facilities established in La Romana.
