The port of Boca Chica is one of three ports serving the capital city of Santo Domingo. It is situated about 20 miles east of the city and 5 miles east of the main international airport. This port was built in the 1950’s to export sugar, but it is now used for imports in general, mainly lumber, paper rolls (carton) and homogeneous cargoes. Every now and then is also used for the export of cement when closeby ports are busy. For detailed information please view or download Port Handbook pdf document.
